Happy Easter Dear Readers! Spring is here and the clocks have gone back, giving us longer days and thoughts of warm, balmy evenings.
Local Focus had a tremendous response to our competitions in the last issue and as ever, we are always delighted to hear from you, so congratulations to the competition winners and look out for more competitions in future.
In this issue, we meet some local businesses and find out about a new way to keep fit whilst pregnant, what is happening at Chippy Lido, and, how holistic massage can benefit you. Clearly we are getting ready for the summer and have enjoyed sharing some ideas of how to integrate exercise into your life!
For those of you lucky enough to have World Cup tickets, read the article on Johannesburg. Or perhaps you are thinking of visiting South Africa for a holiday at some point in the future; you will be surprised at what this vibrant city has to offer.
And if you have always nurtured the dream of working for yourself – no boss, flexible working and an income stream that will grow year on year, consider the world of magazine publishing and contact us at Local Focus. We are now offering limited opportunities for energetic people to produce their own magazine in selected areas.
Until the next issue, stay happy, keep well and continue to write and send in your stories and photos. We love hearing from you!

Hi there and welcome to the latest edition of Local Focus. I can hardly believe that we are into February and heading towards Easter! The days are gradually getting longer and we can all look forward to the promise of warmer weather and sunny days.
In this issue we have a great idea for a different Valentines Day surprise for your other half. Look at our guide to the Chinese New Year and take a romantic and exciting trip to London to experience the excitement of the New Year Parade in Trafalgar Square.
Been thinking about starting your own business? Take a look at Mark Batty’s article on his SMART (small and medium area repair technology) business. Or have you always liked the idea of writing and publishing a magazine? Local Focus is now looking for special individuals who have the desire and ambition to succeed in running their own business. if you are serious about working in this exciting and rewarding environment, contact us and find out more.
What about boys and their toys? Read about four school friends who took to the road and went to Germany on their motorbikes. It’s amazing what can be planned over a few pints in the pub and beats a ‘book club’ any day!
Thank you once again dear Readers and Advertisers for your contributions. Local Focus is YOUR magazine and we are always keen to have articles from you, so if you have an idea for a story or something interesting to tell, please do write or e-mail me.

Welcome to the December/January 2010 issue of Focus Magazine. As you will see, we have an exciting new look and have changed the format of the magazine so each town has its own ‘local focus’. We are also celebrating our second Christmas and have some great reader offers to help make the festive season start with a bang! A bit strapped for cash? Try our ideas for cash conscious chums and enter the true spirit of Christmas without spending a fortune. Do you run a business and haven’t sorted out the office Christmas party yet? Consider our alternative and enter our competition to win tickets for up to 10 people for a free paint balling day out! Charlotte Stevens was our last competition winner and won a trip to meet Matt and Giselle at Heart FM – read about her on page 9.
Our dinner party menu will give your friends something to talk about right into the New Year, and for the younger ones, why not try out our fabulous Jewelled biscuits to hang on the tree or just give as beautiful Christmas presents.
So, relax and enjoy our new look and please do send me interesting articles or features about your community when you can. This is YOUR local magazine, and we are always keen to feature local stories where possible.
Happy Christmas!
